A Home Decor Project...

Happy Thursday friends!!  I have been working on more new projects to share but need to take photos of them.  So today I am going to share a project I have been working on at home.  I bought some molding from the lumber yard, painted it white and made three large squares on the wall.  I used two contrasting colors of blue.  And in the center square I put one of those vinyl wall art decals in the center of the square.

 

 

My plans for the center square is to add more photos around the four large photos

 

 

For the end squares I put white shelves, in the center of them.

Jar full of Blessings

Hi blogger friends!  Today I am sharing a jar that I decorated, inspired by a little mason jar on the Simple Stories Harvest Lane Sticker sheet.  My plans for this jar is to use it as a "Jar full of Blessings" .  Inside the jar are a bunch of hearts, and beginning in November my family will start writing things that we are thankful for on the back of the hearts.  I thought my kids could read them after Thanksgiving dinner.  I plan on making a mini album with each heart highlighting a page with something we are thankful for.

Here is my Jar:

 

 

For the hearts inside the jar, I decided to replicate the little quilt heart that is on the Sticker Sheet.

 

 

I started by cutting a bunch of white hearts with my eclips machine.

I also cut the hearts out of 4 different pieces of Simple Stories 6 x6 papers.

 

 

 

I made a pattern with one of the white hearts, similar to the heart sticker. 

 

Next I cut the patterned hearts, I inked the edges of the little pieces with brown Staz on ink and glued them down to one of the white hearts. 

 

 

I put the hearts on a piece of bakers twine, and attached the hearts to the bottom of the lid.

A Simple Basket..

I am still loving the new Simple Stories Harvest Lane paper line.  One of the projects I made for Simple Stories booth for CHA was a basket filled with flowers.

 



I did make the top so you could remove the flowers, and change it with some different flowers if you wanted to.  I made the basket with Simple Stories Wood #2616, Teal dot #2617, Made with Love #2608 and Chipboard sheets cut to the same size.

 

 

 

To make the basket I just cut apart the SS Wood paper, cutting the "boards" apart.  I then cut the chipboard and the SS Teal Dot paper to the same size as the boards.  The best shape I could get to work for this was a oval shape.  After I assembled the basket I cut an oval out of SS Made with Love to make the bottom.

 

 

I cut a bunch of flowers with my eclips machine, and added the cute little banner that I cut from SS Mat Elements #2605.  Have a great Tuesday!  Kellie



Pie Anyone?

Hi all, today I have a very fun project that I made for my Simple Storie blog post on Thursday.  They have a beautiful new paper line called Harvest Lane.  And it made me get in the mood to make a fall project,  so I decided to make a pie!

The supplies you will need to make this project are:  Two 9 inch pie pans(I spray painted one blue), Simple Storie Harvest Lane paper, tan and brown cardstock, a flower and leaf SVG(or a die), Chipboard sheets, Circle punch, some ink, and a really good adhesive.

Next you will need to cut a sheet of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper into 1 inch strips, I used SS Antique Dots, I then inked the edges of the strips. Then cut 22 circles at 1.75 inches, out of the tan cardstock, ink the edges and sew them together overlapping the edges about 1/4 of an inch. This forms the outer crust of the pie.  Next cut a 9 inch circle out of SS Made with Love, and an inner circle at 6 inches, this forms a ring.  From the scraps punch a bunch of 1/2 inch circles (these are the berries).

To start making the crust, start laying out the strips, and weaving them together. I like to secure them down with adhesive as I weave them.  I do this with the strips facing down.

After I weaved the strips together, I then filled all the gaps with the berries(facing down).

 

On the bottom of the pan you are using for the top, trace, cut and glue a chipboard circle to the bottom of the pan.

Place the weaved piece over the pan, and work your way around the pan bending the extra paper over the edge and securing it down with adhesive.  Next add the crust edge you made with the circles, use a strong adhesive for this. 

The last step for the top would be to add a piece of scrapbook paper to the bottom of the top.  I just sat the top on a piece of paper glued it down and cut around it.  Then add your decorations, I chose to use a flower svg and leaf svg along with a sticker from SS Fundamental Cardstock stickers.

Out of a piece of chipboard, you need to cut another 9 inch circle with a 6 inch circle cut out of the center.  Then cut a 1/2 strip of chipboard to add an inner ring in the 6 inch circle.  Glue these together

Add the ring you cut out of Made with Love, to the chipboard shape.  This will set down inside the bottom part of the pie.  Glue this down, I added the glue to the outer rim of the pie pan, paper clipped it down and let it dry.  Inside the inner circle you can decorate it however you want. 

I added some flowers, which I cut out of SS Yellow Quilt and Tablecloth, leaves, and SS stickers. I hooked the top and bottom of the pie together by punching a hole in the rim of the pan and tieing them together with twine.

Two Peas Challenge

Hi all,

Hope you are enjoying your Tuesday.  Last week I entered a layout challenge over at Two Peas in a Bucket.  For the challenge we had to use a sketch as our inspiration and one of the elements in the sketch were speech bubbles.  I love sketches, it is an easy way to get pages done while adding your own personal touches.   And I always love a challenge!



Here is what I did with the sketch:

I wasn't to sure about using speech bubbles on a layout, but I actually really liked using them.  And they worked perfect for the subject matter.  I love summer vacation, but my kids are constantly picking on each other!  I think the only time they have gotten along is when I took these photos of them! 

I used a Simple Stories 12 x 12 memorabilia pocket.  I love these pockets!  And I really like the
12 x 12 pockets, because if you cut the sides of them, it creates a page that opens up...

TV Mini

Hi all, I made a mini album using Jillibean Soup Macho Nacho.  When I saw the little TVs on the paper I knew I wanted to make one into an album.  After seeing their August sketch, I was inspired to get one made.  Here is the sketch:

I had some pictures of when I was smaller from a Disney trip we took, I had been wanting to scrapbook the photos for a long time.  I liked the retro TV so I thought it was a good fit for the photos.  I still have to do my journaling.  Almost all of the pages are based on the sketch.

Sorry this is late!

Hello all, for the Simple Stories Cha booth I made a few projects from their newest lines.  The one I have here today is made from Handmade Holiday.  This is a very cute paper line, I fell in love with it!  The elements in this paper line are so cute! I decided to make Countdown to Christmas stockings. 

Each stocking is unique,  I used a variety of items to decorate them.  I used burlap, felt, wood beads and buttons, crocheted ribbon, twine and die cut chipboard.

 

I simply made a stocking pattern, and cut the stockings out of the Handmade Holiday paper with pinking shears.  I then sewed them together.  I also made tags to put in the stockings.  I was planning on journaling what we did that day on the tags, and eventually doing a scrapbook page with all the tags.
